Bleakley and Todd Reunited at Viacom Outdoor
Viacom Outdoor has appointed Emap Advertising’s Sue Todd as its new marketing director. The move sees her reunited with Tim Bleakley who joined Viacom Outdoor as Managing Director, sales and marketing, in October last year from Emap Advertising where he was broadcast director.
Todd, 34, has built her reputation in a range of pioneering roles at Emap. As Marketing Director, she was responsible for the development of emap advertising creating a distinct brand positioning and culture that enabled the company to steal a march on competitors, achieving market beating growth.
Todd led and oversaw the creation of Emap Insight a unit within Emap Advertising dedicated to helping advertisers understand and reach key target audiences through the company’s brands.
Prior to this, she spent a year in the then new role of Director of People and Culture for the company; three years as marketing manager of Emap on Air and three years in Manchester at Key 103 in various marketing and research roles.
Todd will take on the role previously undertaken by Mike Baker, who is stepping up to concentrate on Viacom Outdoor’s operations on the continent as European Marketing & Development Director. Todd will focus on developing the visibility of the Viacom Outdoor brand in the UK and the unrivalled role of bus and Tube advertising as the Londoner’s media. She will report directly to Bleakley and will sit on Viacom Outdoor’s UK Operating Board.
Tim Bleakley, Managing Director of sales and marketing at Viacom Outdoor said: “On the search list for the position of marketing director, Sue’s name was at the top. She has spent the last ten years studying and lecturing at the ‘university’ of media brands – Emap. She is one of the most dynamic people I’ve ever worked with and we can’t wait to have her at the heart of the next phase of development at Viacom Outdoor. She’s a killer – it’s gonna be fun.”
Sue Todd said: “I've had an incredible 11 years at Emap working with some of the strongest brands and most talented people in the business. It's a difficult business to leave but as a typical London commuter it’s impossible not to see and be excited by the opportunity at Viacom Outdoor. I am delighted to be joining Tim there.”
